Weekend in Wendover

So far our weekends have been packed with things to do. All of which have been so fun and this last weekend was no exception!! Adam and I had the opportunity to go to Wendover to my little bro Neil's graduation from the Civil Air Patrol Cadet program. When we arrived in Wendover we met my Dad at the rainbow Hotel and Casino and went up to the room to relax a bit while he was at the banquet with the rest of the gang. We had gotten there too late to go to the banquet so we decided to go to Arby's for dinner since the buffet at the Rainbow was 15.95 a plate!! After dinner we met back up with the gang to go to McDonald's for dessert Yum! We then went back to the hotel room and relaxed and chatted and enjoyed each other's company. We didn't go to bed until 12:30 AM because we were having such a good time visiting. The next morning we woke up and packed all our gear up and left to go to the the air field. In the process of packing in a hurry we forgot Adam's pillow and my book :( Oh well I guess we were not meant to have those things LOL! We got to the air field 45 min early, little did we know we would be sitting outside an and hour and a half in the blazing sun, luckily they gave us all water bottles and Papa bought him and I a hat for a dollar so that helped shield me a bit! We had a great time watching the ceremony and I was able to get some great pics since Chrissie forgot her camera. Afterwards we picked up Neil and all of his luggage from the bunker he stayed in and left to go home not before Adam and I stopped at Subway on the way home. We were just about to pay for our meal when Chrissie called me and said their car had broken down and needed us to come and rescue them we got to the car and they called again saying that they were OK and on their way again. This kept happening for awhile, we were grateful we were able to follow them in case something happened to them or the car. We all got home safe and sound and had a wonderful mini vacation despite the car troubles!!

A [Father's Day] to remember...

This Father’s Day weekend was for a certain reason something I thought would never happen to be honest with you. Of course there is always Father’s Day but none as memorable as the one I just experienced. For those of you who don’t know my parents divorced when I was a baby and I have not had contact with my Father ever since. I had known along he was out there and that someday we would be reunited weather it was in this life or the next. I feel so blessed to have the opportunity in this life! In September of 2007 my father contacted my grandpa Pistorius and said that he wanted to begin having contact with me. At first I was shocked and unsure of what to do. After much thought, I decided that I would at least call and begin a phone to phone relationship which is a huge thing it itself. That phone to phone relationship lasted until Father’s Day 2009. I am so glad I took baby steps in getting to know my Dad rather than just jump in without giving us time to get to know each other. But that phone to phone relationship ended when I came face to face with the man I now call Dad. I was very nervous about taking the big step of letting him in my life, as anyone in my shoes might be. I did it and I am so so glad and happy I did. I feel such closure and peace now that that chapter of the unknown is closed. I’m excited for this new journey I am embarking on. The weekend was full of firsts some of which include: Watching a movie with him, not having to call him to talk to him, eating at the same dinner table as him, sitting by the fire and chatting with him. Not only did I get to meet him but his wife Christine “Chrissie”, my sis Carly “Car”, and little bro Neil. My other brother Mitch is on a mission in Guatemala and will be home in 8 weeks on Tuesday. I’m so glad Adam was able to be my side during one of the most important days of my life. We are getting along very nicely and expect to continue down that path!!

[Bridals] one year later

I thought it would be a fun idea to have my bridals taken one year after our wedding. I had them taken on the 23rd of May so close to the wedding day but not actually on it. I loved wearing my wedding dress the first time so it was a great excuse to wear it again. I was going to have it cleaned beforehand but then decided against and boy was I glad I made that choice because it got dirtier the second time around. I had a lady by the name of Carrie Bischoff take them, she was just starting up her business and doing a promotion to get the word out I happened to see the ad and jumped on the bandwagon!! I love how they turned out. The first ones I did for the wedding were done at Temple Square and the these ones were taken at Wheeler Farm. Enjoy!

Ashley turns [24] ---Blog post by Adam

Ashley had her 24th birthday on June the 4th, so I am taking this rare opportunity to write on the blog. If you know Ashley, you know she is no fan of secrets! But I can't help myself, every time I get a chance, I think of the best possible way to surprise her. She certainly had no idea I was getting her a Wii Fit for our Anniversary. Keeping all the presents hidden was no easy task: First I had to buy them, then get them into the house without her seeing, then put them in their hiding place and, most difficult of all, try not to give anything away as she pestered me with questions in the week or two leading up to her birthday. The presents may not sound all that exciting, but they were all something she had talked about wanting. I gave Ashley an electric toothbrush, a jewelry cleaning kit for her ring, and the biggest present - Planet Earth on blu-ray. Ashley is always talking about Planet Earth, which she gets to watch at work ... without audio. Of course, I'm leaving out part of the story ... Ashley simply couldn't wait and, seeing as I had three gifts, I let her open one two days before her birthday (the electric toothbrush). The plan was to have her open one the day before as well - sort of a three days of birthday type thing - but somehow that didn't happen, so she opened the other two on the day of.
After work on Ashley's birthday we met up with Grandma and Grandpa Pistorius and Ashley's mom and we all went out to eat at the Training Table. It's a neat, Utah original restaurant. You seat yourself at a table and on the wall is a phone. Once you've looked through the menu and know what you want, you simply pick up the phone. Someone answers and takes your order. When your food is ready, the phone rings, which is your cue to go get your food. Their food is really good (primarily burgers and sandwiches), and they have the most ridiculously delicious and huge cheese fries. We rarely finish a half order. Ashley's birthday was a ton of fun. She just loves being the center of attention on her special day. I love her so much, and so of course I love to spoil her :)

[1 Year and counting]

As many of you may know, Adam and I celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary on Sunday May 31, 2009 . We had bought gifts for each other so we opened them together. I gave Adam a gift certificate to get a 1 hour massage at Massage Envy. Adam gave me a Wii Fit which I had been wanting for a while now. We had fun trying out the Wii Fit and setting goals for our work-outs. The day before our anniversary we set out the top layer of our wedding cake so that it could thaw out in time since it had been waiting patiently in the freezer for the past year. It was better than what I expected but neither Adam nor I ate more than one piece. Now we can say we at least followed the tradition and thanks to that we now have a ton more room in the freezer! LOL On a more serious note..... as I reflect back on our wedding day I can see the growth in our relationship and how much closer we have become to one another. We are each other's best friends. I enjoy the time I spend with Adam more and more everyday. Although our marriage is far from perfect, perfection is not what we are striving for. We are just striving to make the best out of everyday and to live life to the fullest!! I look forward to many more years alongside my prince charming!! Love ya babe :)

~More Logan Pics~

~Logan Road Trip~

So... I know this blog post is almost two weeks late but I wanted to share some of the details from our fun trip to Logan. For our 1 year anniversary we decided to take the weekend and go up to the Anniversary Inn hotel there in Logan. We stayed in the Taj Mahal themed room. We were both so excited to get away and spend some quality time together. It was such a beautiful drive!! We arrived at about 6:30 P.M. we got checked into our room and of course took a tour of the room before deciding where to eat. We ended up getting Little Ceaser's which has now become a tradition when staying at the Anniversary Inn. We brought it back to the room and watched the movie Bedtime Stories. At about 9:30 P.M. they brought root beer floats to our room for us to enjoy YUMMY! After taking a relaxing bath we hopped into the king sized bed and played Yahtzee for awhile before crashing from the day at work and driving. In the morning our breakfast arrived at 9:30A.M. After that we packed up and drove by the Logan temple. I had never seen the Logan temple up close so that was neat. After driving around and trying to not get lost we ended up at the Willow Park Zoo. What a fun place! It is by no means a Hogle Zoo but it was so cute and small. Plus it's only a dollar for adults perfect for a tight budget. We had a great time taking in each moment. After the zoo we headed home. What a great little getaway with my best friend. Here are some pictures we took while in Logan!!
